Just checked my mother in at Perth airport to fly home after a month here. The lady at the check in desk asked if Shannon (her final destination) was domestic. I said "no, it's international-can't you see??she's flying from LHR".

She replied that flying Uk to Ireland was a domestic flight, as Ireland was "in" england. I told her that this was not the case, but she went on to say that it was a part of the UK, and was like flying from Perth to Sydney-just into another state of the same country. This woman works in an international airport, and more than likely sees people flying into Shannon every day, and still thinks that great britian encompasses ireland.
I did mail the airline, but short of that-what else can i do??People have to check the bags out at heathrow, and check them in again, because she thinks that SNN is domestic, and there's no customs there. And LHR is one hell of a place for going thru customs. Eventually she tagged the bags all the way to SNN, but under protest.

Grrrrrr
