Don't have much information on this
a lufthansa flight from Frankfort made a emergency landing at Shannon today after a two year old Ethiopian child died onbord. This is the 4th emergency landing in Shannon sense the 20th of march the AA flight from Dublin to florida made a emergency landing after a death on Bord, the Murry air dc8 incident, the BA 747 with hydrological problems, and today the lufthansa flight. this shows that Shannon is a important airport for emergencies.

Indeed just found this...
"
Gardaí confirmed this afternoon they are investigating the death of a toddler on board a flight diverted to Shannon (http://www.independent.ie/topics/Shannon+%28County+Clare%29) this afternoon. The 2-year-old from Ethiopia (http://www.independent.ie/topics/Ethiopia) was with her family on a Lufthansa (http://www.independent.ie/topics/Lufthansa+AG) flight from Frankfurt (http://www.independent.ie/topics/Frankfurt) to JFK Airport (http://www.independent.ie/topics/John+F.+Kennedy+International+Airport) in the US (http://www.independent.ie/topics/United+States) when she took ill. She was treated by a doctor aboard the plane, and the flight was diverted to Shannon shortly before 3pm.
The child was then pronounced dead by emergency services on the ground. Her body remained at the scene this afternoon, and was due to be removed to Limerick Regional Hospital (http://www.independent.ie/topics/Limerick+Regional+Hospital) for a post mortem. All 303 passengers left the plane, and the area where the little girl was sitting was sealed off for a technical examination. Gardaí said they were treating it as a crime scene and intended to quiz the passengers who were sitting near the young girl. The child's parents were being comforted by officials at the airport."

It has been said by the father of the child that she may have died from pneumonia, caused by the family's 3-day trek through the mountains to flee the country. It has been said by several sources that the family is still departing for America next week though, rather than returning home.
